  • FGCU

The Southwest Florida Regional Technology Partnership (www.swfrtp.org) invites area technology professionals to attend the first presentation of this year’s Software Technologies Distinguished Lecture Series at FGCU, Thursday March 1.

The leadoff presenter is Jonathan Titus, former Editor-in-Chief of Electronic Design News and currently independent consultant. Titus is a pioneer in micro computing and author of more than a dozen books on computer technology past, present and future. His planned topic is “The Evolution of Software Development: 1972-2012.”

SAVE THE DATES -- This year’s lecture series features six presentations, on March 1, 15, 22 and 29; and April 5 and 12. The programs begin with a reception at 6:00 PM; the featured lecture from 6:30-7:30; followed by an hour of “meet and greet” time with the speakers. The location is FGCU Academic Building 7, auditorium 114. The lectures are open to the public without charge.

The Lecture Series began three years ago as an effort to increase the visibility of the growing software development community in Southwest Florida. FGCU recently expanded its IT course offerings to include a degree in software engineering, one of the IT specializations in highest demand.

The series is presented by the FGCU Software Engineering/Computer Science Program in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering, jointly with the Southwest Florida Technology Partnership. SWFRTP is a non-profit membership organization comprised of technology companies and technology users, economic development groups and higher education institutions united to promote and expand the regional technology sector in Southwest Florida.
